Tea tree ointment - for horses and ponies

Bumps, scratches and scrapes are a way of life for horses and ponies, as well as their humans, so be ready with this tea tree oil ointment. Tea tree comes from the leaves of the Australian tree melaleuca alternifolia and is known for its antiseptic, antibacterial and healing qualities. It soothes insect bites, superficial wounds and fungal infections, so is handy as part of a first-aid kit, though it goes without saying, anything potentially serious should be referred to a vet.

This product is paraben-free and has not been tested on animals - yay!

Warning: contains nut oils. Tea tree oil has been known to cause allergic reactions in some people and animals, so conduct a patch test first.

Before using any product for the first time you should always carry out a patch test. Apply a small amount of product to a small area of clean dry skin and wait 24 hours to check for any allergic reaction. If all is well and there's no reaction, such as redness, itching, swelling or irritation then you are good to go!

Sunflower oil (helianthus annuus), sweet almond oil (prunus dulcis), beeswax (cera alba), tea tree essential oil (melaleuca alternifolia), vitamin E oil (tocopherol).
